{"id":191,"date":"2025-08-28T13:43:42","date_gmt":"2025-08-28T11:43:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eezyflow.com\/?page_id=191"},"modified":"2026-08-20T14:49:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-20T14:49:12","slug":"somnapne-termer-varden","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eezyflow.com\/en\/somnapne-termer-varden\/","title":{"rendered":"Sleep Apnea -Terms &amp; Values"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wp-block-group\"><div class=\"wp-block-group__inner-container is-layout-constrained wp-block-group-is-layout-constrained\">\n<h1 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Sleep Apnea -Terms &amp; Values<\/h1>\n\n\n\n<ul style=\"font-size:18px\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Anti-apnea splint (AAS) \u2013&nbsp;<\/strong><strong>Apnea bite splint (ABS)<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;\u2013 Apnea splint \u2013 Snore splint:<\/strong>&nbsp;A splint that pulls the lower jaw forward and thus helps prevent the tongue from falling backwards and blocking the airways.&nbsp;<strong>Consult a doctor\/dentist.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Apnea:<\/strong>&nbsp;Apnea, respiratory arrest for more than 10 seconds.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>APAP<\/strong>:&nbsp;<strong>A(uto Adjusting) P(ositive) A(irway) P(ressure)&nbsp;<\/strong>&nbsp;A device\/machine with a breathing mask (nasal\/full face mask) that provides a&nbsp;<strong>adapted<\/strong>&nbsp;positive pressure in the upper airways and thus keeps the airways open.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Bite splint:<\/strong>&nbsp;A splint you get from a dentist when you clench\/grind your teeth.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>CPAP:<\/strong>&nbsp;C(ontinuous) P(ositive) A(irway) P(ressure) = A device\/<strong>machine<\/strong>&nbsp;with a breathing mask (nose\/full face mask) that provides a&nbsp;<strong>constant<\/strong>&nbsp;positive pressure in the upper airways and thus keeps the airways open.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Habitual snoring:<\/strong>&nbsp;More or less regular snoring.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Hypopnea:<\/strong>&nbsp;Reduced airflow by at least 50% for more than 10 seconds.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Mouth breathing:<\/strong>&nbsp;Most people who snore breathe through their mouths. The tongue falls back, making it difficult for air to flow.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Nose breathing:<\/strong>&nbsp;The nose cleans, regulates temperature and humidifies the air you breathe in. You get better oxygenation and sleep more soundly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Obstructive:<\/strong>&nbsp;Clogging, stopping, preventing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>RSVP:<\/strong>&nbsp;Obstructive sleep apnea means that you have repeated breathing pauses during sleep.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>OSAS:<\/strong>&nbsp;Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome, from 5 breathing pauses per hour of sleep and upwards, is classified as a disease. The diagnosis entails an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke and type II diabetes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>PAP: CPAP + APAP&nbsp;<\/strong>(see above).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Situational snoring:<\/strong>&nbsp;People who snore in certain situations, such as after drinking alcohol, are extremely exhausted, on certain medications, have a cold, or just have a stuffy nose for other reasons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Snoring sound:<\/strong>&nbsp;Vibration, tissues vibrating in the upper respiratory tract.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li style=\"font-size:18px\"><strong>Social snoring:<\/strong>&nbsp;Snoring without breathing pauses or fewer than five breathing pauses (apneas) per hour of sleep.
